My Story

There’s a point in everyone's career, often in midlife, when you realise you’re not quite where you want to be.

It may be that your career is demanding more from you than you planned to give. It might not be demanding enough. Or you might just feel trapped with no sense of the direction in which you wish to head.

Through more than twenty years working with the legal sector, I’ve had thousands of conversations with senior professionals about their careers. The good decisions and the bad. The ambitions and the things that were holding them back.

I largely saw two distinct camps. Those who’d move quickly and decisively, often opportunistically or at the point they felt the itch for a change. And those who avoided it, staying loyal to the same firm for long periods, fearful of making the wrong move or of “being found out”.

In my own career, I was the latter. For eighteen years I built and ran a boutique recruitment consultancy, trusted by some of the world’s largest and most prestigious law firms. At times we thrived and at times we survived, but over time I knew I needed something different.

In 2023, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. This provided a wake-up call on the importance of living life with examined intent. Shortly after our honeymoon the following year, I discovered coaching and considered the positive impact it could have had on my career.

I made the decision to retrain as an executive coach - a role that would allow me to lean into the part of my work I valued the most, the career conversations, but without the competing agenda of having to serve two sides at once.

I’m now an ILM Level 7 qualified executive coach, working on a 1:1 basis predominantly with senior business services professionals who are as serious about pursuing genuine career fulfillment as they are about their work.

My approach is direct, honest and focussed on what’s actually going on. I’m not here to be a cheerleader and give motivational talks about cold showers. I’m here to help you make good decisions with confidence.

Outside of coaching, I'm a dad and stepdad - often found on the sidelines of dance competitions, walking the dog, cooking, or playing table tennis. Music is a big part of my life. I'll go and see pretty much anything live, from hip-hop to ambient to drum and bass.
